Bill has always been an entrepreneur and Jeannie had been a banker for 17 years. Jeannie left banking in 1983 to join Bill in the day to day operation of their businesses.
Lanier Jewelry & Loan got it's start in downtown Buford, Georgia in that same year, and was relocated to its present location in Gainesville, Georgia in 1987. We opened our second Gainesville store in 1989 and a third location in Oakwood, Georgia in 1990.
From the begining our stores have been jewelry stores that made loans as opposed to a pawnshop that sold some jewelry. While we have always been a "full line pawnshop" about 80% of our business is jewelry related. We have constantly added products and services for our customers, ranging from income tax preparation to cell phones.
Bill has been actively involved in pawn industry affairs for many years serving on both the National Pawnbrokers Association and the Pawn Brokers Association of Georgia Board of Directors. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of The National Pawnbrokers Association and an officer and board member of the Pawn Brokers Association of Georgia.
